About Create My Tribe
Create My Tribe is a speed-friending movement that is fast-spreading its way across Australia with plans to be available in every Australian state and territory in the near future!
What is speed-friending?
At a glance, speed-friending works much the same way as speed-dating does. Each participant speaks to one other person at a time, in five (or so) minute intervals (Depending on the number of attendees). When the time is up, the host will sound the bell, and everyone marks on a scorecard advising if they’d like to exchange details with the person they were speaking to. Everyone then changes seats so that they are sat opposite someone new who they haven’t met yet, and the same process is repeated. But it’s so much more than that! For starters, there's no swiping involved (LOL), it's fun, quick and something different! It’s always exciting waiting for that email confirming your matches!

How it works and what to expect
Purchase Your Ticket
Visit our events page here and Facebook to find an event in your area, then follow the steps to purchase your ticket. Places are limited as we have a maximum number of people that we can host the event for. If you find there isn’t an event local to you, please get in touch!
Check Your Inbox
You will receive an email a week prior to the event. This will tell you everything you need to know, let you know what you can expect. and should help alleviate any last-minute jitters. Remember - those attending the event are likely just as curious as you are. Feeling nervous in the lead-up to any event is expected and totally normal. But I am here to help ease those butterflies, so reach out prior to the event if needed. If you haven’t received an email from the CMT team by the Monday morning prior to the event, please get in touch!
Your Arrival
Upon your arrival at the venue, you will be greeted by your CMT host who will hand you a scorecard to complete over the course of the evening. You will then be directed to the bar where you can collect your welcome beverage and then to the area where you will be seated.
Get Comfortable
When it’s time, your host will gather everyone together and explain how the event works, how to fill out the scorecard, talk about what to expect throughout the evening and most importantly, give you some helpful advice about how to get the most out of it.
Let The Fun Begin
Your host will announce when the speed-friending is about to begin. Depending on the event that you attend, you can expect each encounter to last around 5 (or so) minutes (dependent on the number of participants). At the end of each encounter, your host will let you know when to move on to your next potential friend.
Your Matches Are on the Way!
At the end of the night, you will hand your scorecard back to your host - this is very important! If you have circled ‘yes’ to a person and that particular person has also circled ‘yes’ to you, then that’s what we call a match! You will receive each other’s contact details via email in the coming days after the event. It’s as simple as that! But our involvement doesn’t stop there as we will check-in with you following the event to see how your journey to making more friends is going.

Hi everyone, and welcome to the redesigned Create My Tribe website!
As the new (and very excited) owner of CMT (November 2025), I wanted to take the time to introduce myself!
My name is Kelly, and I can't wait to meet you at an upcoming event, but first, here’s a little bit about me …
Connection and friendships have always been a huge part of my life.
Over the years I have been lucky enough to call some beautiful places home, including the glorious Gold Coast, Melbourne, the Sunshine Coast and Toowoomba - where I now call home.
But no matter where I lived, one thing never changed: I loved being social and meeting new people.
Each move required me to put myself out there and create new friendships. Through these experiences, I soon realised that while people genuinely craved new friendships, it didn't always happen easily. Life gets busy, and making the first move can feel scary. And I often hear how hard it can be to make genuine friendships as an adult.
That’s why, when the opportunity arose to take over Create My Tribe, I didn’t hesitate.
The speed-friending concept is fun, fast, and beautifully simple, just show up, be your authentic self, and we’ll handle the rest.
Whether you’re new to town, looking to expand your circle, or just ready for something new and exciting - you’re in the right place.
My focus is to host events that offers a space that feels inspiring, and one in which you feel comfortable to be yourself, and most importantly, am able to have some fun and form long lasting friendships!
